Review of scaredtosee-theendingURL:Your url, while catchy, doesn’t indicate that your blog is an RP blog. When I first saw it, I thought it was a personal URL rather than an RP. I highly highly suggest putting “rpg” or “rp” at the end of your url. Perhaps something like “scaredtosee-rp”? Using RPG or RP at the end of a URL for an RP blog is incredibly important, as it will signify immediately that your blog is an RP. Some other url tips:Keep your url short! It makes it easier to remember.Make sure that it’s easy to spell.Hyphens, while helpful for spacing out words, shouldn’t be over used. More than two per URL can make it hard to remember.FIRST IMPRESSION:Everything looks good when you first get to the Main Page. A quick glance around showed me everything I needed. Based solely on a look at your MP, your rp looks well put together and fairly easy on the eyes.SIDEBAR:Your sidebar plot is complete and gives enough information to draw your readers in while still not giving everything about the rp away. But I suggest replacing your first “population” with another word such as “people”, since you use “population of a whopping….” one or two sentences later. You want to make sure that your sidebar plot flows perfectly. There was one thing in your sidebar that confused me. Why is the last line in your sidebar “I liked it better when you were on my side…”? While it’s one of the lyrics from “Story of Us”, which is where I assume your RP title came from, it doesn’t relate to anything else in your sidebar plot and seems incredibly out of place.THEME:I really do like this theme. It’s very simple and very easy to navigate. You don’t always have to have a super flashy theme for your mp, which this theme showcases wonderfully. The white color scheme looks good, but I suggest finding an accent color that you love and will always be a color in your RP’s scheme to help you stand out. The main thing you need to watch out for with this theme is your text size. I suggest raising your font size to 10 or 11px, so that everything will be easier for your guests to read.NAVIGATION:Your navigation is plainly visible and well labeled in your sidebar, and all of your sidebar links work. I suggest adding a link to your open characters and rules in your sidebar for easy access. Your navigation page is organized well, and while I wasn’t expecting alphabetical organization, it works very well. All of your links are working. The one thing I suggest adding would be a “setting” page. But this will be covered more in depth under the “Setting” section of the review.MAIN GRAPHICS:All of your graphics are very simple and very understated, which I feel is a good thing for your RP. It makes your RP seem more laid back, while still looking put together. However, I’m not quite sure why you chose to use a picture of picture frames/pictures for your sidebar, when you use pictures of scenery for your promo and most everything else.Your icon is cute and goes well with the overall theme/plot of your RPG. My suggestion here, which is entirely personal preference, would be to put your RP’s initials on the icon if possible. This way, should someone use an icon similar to yours, your RP will still stand out in the tag.CHARACTER GRAPHICS:Your character graphics are my favorite part of your RP, to be honest. The gifs are all colored wonderfully, and the side image ties them into your theme. I don’t really have any suggestions here besides keep on keeping on. Because they truly look awesome.OTHER GRAPHICS:Not applicableFACE CLAIMS:All of your FCs are of a believable age. But they’re all very standard FCs. While this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it’s always a good idea to throw in a few FCs that are a little out of the norm to be a little more diverse. There are a lot of popular FCs who are little more “rough around the edges” and could really help broaden the horizons of your RP.Liz GilliesKaya ScodelarioEvan PetersAaron JohnsonBIOGRAPHY FORMAT & LENGTH:Your format is well organized and provides the most important information at a glance. I particularly like that your taken characters’ names have the URL to their account linked. That’s not something I would have thought of! All of your biographies are roughly the same length, however, I was surprised to see an unfinished biography in your “taken males” section. While releasing your FC list in advanced is never a bad thing, releasing an uncompleted biography, and accepting the role before it’s completely written, can lead to big problems later down the road. If your applicants can’t read the entire biography when they’re applying, how do you know they’re going to play the character you wrote the way that you want that character to be played?PLOT:Your plot is well written and explained, and error free. Your general plot was a very easy read (which I do mean as a compliment!). However, your character/pairing specific plot page is a little confusing to see. I highly suggest that to the side of each plot you list which characters are involved. (This is the page I mean)SETTING:Cherry Tree, PA is an incredibly small town. And a quick search through Google yielded no informative results about the town. When you use a location like this, it’s a very good idea to having a “setting” page somewhere in your navigation. This way your RPers don’t have to hunt for reliable information (and many of them won’t look further than the MP). In order to keep your players from contradicting each other in their descriptions of the town, I highly suggest you make a setting page and display and/or describe some of the most common locations. Such as:Grocery Stores - How many do they have? Are they chain stores like Kroger, or little Mom-n-Pop places?LibrarySchoolsPopular RestaurantsTeen Hang Out/Make Out spotsHospitalKeep in mind, not all of these have to be within the town itself. You could, for instance, say that the hospital is in the next town over, and give an approximate time it takes to get there!RULES:I love that your rules are in depth. Simply glancing at the pages, I can see that the staff here really does care about the RP and wants it succeed. Rules are often the best indication of how much effort has gone into an RP, if you ask me. And a careful set of well explained rules bodes well.Activity - While your activity rule is generally well explained, you don’t cover what your RP’s definition of activity is. Do pictures and music reblogs count? Does make an introduction post, and not replying to anyone who responds count? Or do they have to have quality interaction, like a gif convo of more than a few notes, or paras to qualify as active?Other than that, your rules are complete and thorough, and the password is reasonably placed. APPLICATION:While your application is complete and asks for all nexessary information, it doesn’t tell you very much about your applicant, which I always find is extremely important. You may want to consider the following questions, and incorporating them into your application some how. They will give you a better sense of the commitment level of your applicants, and when they should be around on the dash.OOC Questions:Timezone: Useful for admins to keep track of when their players should be free to RP.Which days are you most active? At what times? Do you have Sundays free? Are you most active between midnight and 2am?Do you consider yourself an active RPer? Why or why not? What sort of obligations do you hold outside of this RP? How will these obligations affect your activity here? (Do you have a job? Are you in other RPs? What sort of things might keep you from being active?)Why do you want to be in this RP?IC Questions:Why do you want this character? What do you feel you can bring to this role that other applicants can’t?Imagine your chosen character is stranded in the middle of no where. Their car has broken down, and it’s pouring rain out. There’s nothing in sight for miles, and they have no cellphone signal. How do they handle themselves and the situation?Questions such as these will not only give you a better sense of how the applicant will play the character you created, but it will force them to develop the character slightly even before they’re accepted.STAFF ATTITUDE:The staff seems very polite when answering questions, which is often overlooked, surprisingly. The staff answers all questions thoroughly, and gives explanations to why things are how they are, which is very important because it makes your players and applicants feel a little more involved and in the know.I did notice that one of your questions was about publishing accepted applications. While I completely agree with you on not wanting to publish the writing samples, there is a way to keep from exploiting your applicants as you said! Many RPs publish their accepted applications, and remove the para sample/any personal details the player is uncomfortable with being released. Just thought I would mention this in case you were interested!INDIVIDUAL PAGES:Not applicableOVERALL:It’s easy to see that the staff really and truly cares about this role play and know how they want things run, while still being positive and polite to others. You’ve got a great RP that (I think) just needs a few minor changes to really help it grow and succeed. -- source link
