I’ll try to get sources but I’m on my phone and a little digging revealed they have most likely are about to move from cell culture to animal models. Most potential drugs fail in that transition. (And most successful drugs that make it past animal testing Fail in clinical trials) You can get a lot of cool shit to happen in a dish and outside of a biological system with blood and other tissues and systems interacting. Cancer in a dish doesn’t have access to your immune system And vasculature And other tissues which it loves to exploit to protect itself.This drug is still in development and I hope this press gets them some well deserved funding! But it’s a long road to being a real treatment. For example, I saw on change.org a petition from someone begging for this university to let them use this drug on their uncle who has brain cancer. It’s not ready for that. Not even close. I found more sites saying they are ready to START animal testing. The media makes it seem like these drugs are ready to be used on humans when they are not! It’s great to know that these students are working so hard to develop treatments, they deserve all the funding! Just be careful not to buy into the sensational reporting! -- source link
