fieldandforest:COAST MOUNTAIN ROAD TRIPCombining some of BC’s most diverse and stunning scenery, the Coast Mountain Circle Route makes for a fantastic roadtrip. From the lush coast and forests around Vancouver to the towering mountains of Whistler to the arid ranchlands and sculpted canyons of Lillooet and Lytton, there’s an adventure waiting around almost every bend of highway. At only 700km (430 miles) it’s possible to tackle it in a long day’s drive, but with numerous sights and stops and side trips we recommend at least 3–7 days. It’s been on my list for a couple years now, and this December we finally checked it out. The days were short and the nights bitingly cold, but it was beautiful to see in the stark monochromes of winter. Even with most of the stops and attractions were closed for the season, from the sparkling coast to snowy mountain passes to to cactus-lined canyons, it was spectacular the whole way.
