lets-gank-it:In today’s edition of unnecessarily gendered products…Graq and I have a small disagreement about this kind of thing. It doesn’t say explicitly in this picture that one of these helmets is for girls and the other is for boys, but in my opinion the colors imply it.There are many products that don’t have specific labeling but offer up two or more choices, one of them being pink. This is what many people assume is the “girl” version. If you have a pink helmet and you’re a boy, you will be laughed at, whereas if you have a “normal” colored helmet, no matter what gender you are, no one’s going to give it a second glance. Until we stop associating women with pink, I feel like pink things are going to be exclusively for women.(I have read posts about how we gender things and it isn’t inherently for girls until we make it for girls and all that and I agree with them. I also don’t think we need less color options. But if we just ignore this kind of thing ((pink = women)) it’s not going to go away, so I’d rather discuss it.)- Main Mod -- source link
