problemglyphs:Emerald City Comic Con was a huge success! We sold out of [BOG WITCH] patches and Black Hole Wizard (my comic book with Simon Berman, first photo) ashcan comics, as well as original sketches (more of these will be available this Saturday at our ashcan signing at the Raygun Lounge in Seattle). I met Katie West for the first time in person, even though we have been friends online for over a decade. Enjoy that photo of a genuine, non-posed smile because very few people can make me smile like that in a photograph or in person, but Katie is magical and always has been.I did so many glyph card readings! We sold a huge number of those, and you can see me reading Gothic Miss Manners’ cards in an “oak” layout here. Jilli and I also go way back (she has been keeping an eye on me since I was 14 years old) and it was delightful to be able to sit quietly with her for a few minutes and be permitted to read her glyphs. I saw challenges and victories for her in the forthcoming months…The card readings were a little spooky. A few people went away looking haunted, which was troubling, but I suppose it comes with the territory. I cried more than once: one reading was for a wonderful lady whose central, “trunk” card in her 3-card layout was [TAKE ONLY PICTURES], a glyph about discarding everything unneeded and hurtful, and keeping only what feeds you. At the end of the reading she was teary-eyed and told me her husband had died in August, and that her whole life had been focused since then on cleaning out his possessions and returning her home to “hers” again. In another reading, [SPIN, WEND, SEVER OR MEND] came up in the “branches” position. She only told me afterwards that she was going into fashion design. After extensive trials both online and in person, I’m almost ready to put the glyph readings up on my store, so watch for those soon.My friend Maija gave me an incredibly powerful Magic card, and her album which I have been listening to a hell of a lot. Listen to her project Artemis Victim and download here.Post-con, we are now over $400 per glyph on Patreon. This is huge, and it means now I have to do the $400 milestone, a live Q&A video. I will have an ask box open for that very soon, so start thinking about the questions you have about the glyphs. Do you want to know why I chose certain animals for a given glyph? What do repetitive symbols mean? What’s my process for drawing the glyphs? What music do I listen to while drawing them? Just give it some thought, jot down some notes, and get ready to submit questions when the ask box opens.Thank you especially to everyone who follows the project here who took the time and effort to find the booth and introduce yourselves. I am so grateful to all of you! -- source link
