My Brazilian food nightmare :( :( :( I need to complain a lot, the food in Brazil is a total nightmare according to me. I don’t want to be offensive with Brazilian culture, the food is just not suitable with my own taste. Here are the problems I don’t find nothing of the stuff I like; or if I find it’s totally overpriced. For example in the photos up there are my TOP 5 FAVORITE FOOD I could now KILL to have ahhahaha 1. Salmon filet with salad with sweet soja dressing. (or honey) You gonna soon understand I am fan of slaty/sweet meal. In brazil we find both: salad and salmon. yet the salmon is totally overpriced !!!! I know it’s an expensive fish, but in Brazil nobody I know eat salmon. For example I live with 3 other Brazilians people and they have tasted salmon for the first time of their life because of me !!!!! Salmon here also come in big piece with bones and stuff … well for me it’s like very disturbing to not find frozen salmon filet without skin and bones etc… So I can’t eat this plate so often. :( 2. Fresh pineapple with sea food: again here you have a meal with salt/sugar mixing :) I love the sweet taste of pineapple, and sea food like crabs sticks and little shrimps. It’s a so fresh meal and very healthy ! In Brazil it’s funny to see how EXPENSIVE are pineapple ! Crabs sticks you don’t find it in most of the market, when you find it you have to pay a lot for it. Shrimp you find, but again FUCKING EXPENSIVE PRICES ! 3. Greek traditional salad; it is made with your vegetable choice, olives, tomatoes … AND FETA CHEESE. Well there is Nothing similar to FETA cheese in Brazil ; absolutely Nothing. 4. Calamari salad ( typical salad you can find in most of sushi restaurant) it is made with LOL I don’t know actually but it’s delicious. Sadly in Brazil sushi restaurants we don’t find it. Talking about sushi, it’s maybe the only thing we kind find easily in this land. As a Mizo soup fan and tuna , vegetable/manga , and salmon maki fan, I can survive in Rio. 5. OKAY THEN I ’M GONNA REALLY CRY: I really really really miss my GOAT CHEESE SALAD. Brazil don’t have good goat cheese, I mostly try every cheese that was pretending to be “Goat cheese” down there and NO; it’s not real Goat cheese. I miss this cheese and dream of this salad with the goat cheese roasted on bred filled with honey and fresh salad. This is terrible !!! And that’s not all , there is no good breads; not good cheese, not good pizza … If you eat healthy in this contry you are an ALIEN ! Serious; it’s very difficult to find healthy food. There is no individual portion, healthy food “to go” already made ( Mark& Spencer I MISS YOU SO MUCH) !!! People eat rise and bean at EVERY MEAL. ( Lunch and dinner) then it’s or chicken,or beaf or pork. They eat this thing Tapioca, that is very heavy pasta, they don’t prepare well their vegetable. Well it’s a disaster !!!! Their meal here are not delicate at all; I find most of the product of bad quality, there is no choice (but it’s not a problem as everyone eat the same here). Well I don’t consider rise and bean to be a meal I can eat more than 2 time a week (also for me it’s not tasty); I don’t eat no beef no pork no chicken. I don’t like what they dare named cheese: “requeijao” that is more like cream butter paste. They have no soja, tofu…. see food and fish are extremely expensive. well I am food depressed. Sorry my Brazilian friends; I love other part of your culture, and believe me I love a lot Brazil; but’ I’m very not into your food. -- source link
