Ray Kowalski likes having Canadian things in his bedroom. Proof? The “Lucky Green” poster we see hanging above his bed is Canadian. “We give LUCKY GREEN STAMPS”, it says on the poster. Lucky Green Stamps was a popular trading stamp program started by a Canadian grocery store chain in the late 1950s. I guess you’d see these posters in the stores where you could get the stamps. (Read more about Lucky Green Stamps.)I love the closeup mirror shot of Ray in the beginning of “Eclipse” where the red word “lucky” is behind him - though at this point, a first-time viewer can’t tell what it actually says, since the poster isn’t properly seen until later in the episode. But even just visually, it’s a great shot, and once you realize what the word is, it seems totally planned. I think getting that particular shot might have been the reason why they picked this poster for Ray’s bedroom in spite that it’s rather unlikely that a random Chicago native would really have it on their wall (unless Ray has pre-Fraser Canadian connections we don’t know of).(Unfortunately, the poster, a green armchair and yellow curtains are pretty much all we see of Ray’s bedroom. I only noticed the bed - or what I think is a bed - after tweaking the lighting on the screenshots. I want to walk through those double doors and look around for a bit.
