femaleandfictional:Iconic woman in history - Margaret Tudor, Queen of Scotland (played by Georgie Henley)THE SPANISH PRINCESS (2019-2020)Margaret Tudor is a historical figure who is rarely depicted in movie or TV show compare to her infamous brother, King Henry VIII and her granddaughter Mary, Queen of Scots. But through multiple marriages, a coup d'etat, and some political backstabbing, Margaret Tudor paved her name and became one of the most influential queens in British history. She was married to King James IV of Scotland at the age of 12. After the death of her husband, she reigned temporarily on behalf of her infant son, James V as Queen Regent of Scotland. She served as Queen regent for just over a year and had to deal with various conflicts between the Scots, French, and English. She spent her life trying to unify the two countries and was unable to make peace between the Kings - her brother and her son. While Margaret’s life was a rather turbulent and unhappy one, her great-grandson James VI became the King of Great Britain, ruling both England and Scotland, in what is called the ‘Union of the Crowns’. -- source link
