Literally my glo after hugging Kehlani yesterday When I first found out I was born #intersex about 10 years ago, I legit promised myself to not let “my secret” get out. Fast forward 10 years, to yesterday, and I’m meeting my favorite singer Kehlani 3 days before #SweetSexySavage drops and learning more about her as she speaks to us about her vision for the new album & beyond. Then, afterwards, she says to me, “we need a picture”, and my heart drops but with shaky hands I try to take a selfie that didn’t come out #nervousblur. Luckily, Jean Deaux was also there still and took some pics of us on lani’s phone that *did* come out. Then, something magical happened: Kehlani shares our pic together on her twitter & IG accounts and said “hello world, pls meet pidgeon, an intersex, #non-binary and #lgbtq rights activist who I love and support very much!” After I saw that, I immediately took the selfie above because my heart was beaming not only because lani said she loved & supported me () & my work, but because I witnessed her using her incredible platform to become an advocate for a cause most dear to my heart–ending unnecessary genital mutilation surgeries on intersex babies. So, a giant thank you to Lani, thank you to Jean Deaux for saving the day with your photo taking skills , thank you to those who’ve been around a while fighting for this cause, and thank you to all the *new* folks here because of #Kehlani who are eager to join the intersex movement for #humanrights and bodily autonomy ✊❤️✊ (at West Side, Chicago) -- source link
