riolu-egg:birdsy-purplefishes:inklins:As this other post states, Connie’s surname, Maheswaran, means “Lord of the Universe” in Hindi and is also a traditionally Tamil surname. But what about her first name? Her first name seemed a bit odd to me at first. As an Indian kid who learned Telugu as their first language, it seemed almost eerily familiar. As I said it over and over again however, it clicked. The makers of this show were very sneaky, and managed to place one of her main character aspects right in her first name, hinting at it even before her friendship with Steven even develops. The name Connie, im presuming, is just an anglicized version of the name Kahaani (Ka-ha-nee), which translates to “Story” or “Fable” in Telugu and Hindi. Connie’s obsession with stories fits in perfectly with this name.Essentially, If you directly translate her name back to the original language, which is closest to Hindi, then Connie Maheswaran becomes Kahaani Maheshwaram, which in turn put together roughly means “Story Lord of the Universe” or “Fable Lord of the Universe”. Whether that actually means anything regarding her future significance in the series is unknown, but I think its super rad that they managed to sneak in depth meaning into her name like that..Ooh, nice.shingekinokouhai please watch Steven universe there’s so much cool diversity -- source link
