I have been busy being as loud as I can over on twitter and just haven’t really focused on anything fandom related.I’ll be honest and say that I have been angry at Sam because he was being pretty quiet about this (aside from a few RTs and THANK GOD HE DIDN’T POST A BLACK SQUARE YESTERDAY). Then that anger turned to indifference and I’ve given my time, energy, and focus to more important things. Because I just didn’t care what he was doing (or not doing) However, he seems to have stepped up and is using his platform more (though he can always do more). BUT DO NOT LET A CELEBRITY OR PERSON OF INFLUENCE DICTATE YOUR STANCE ON THIS. DO NOT PRAISE THEM FOR DOING WHAT THEY SHOULD. AND DON’T MAKE EXCUSES FOR THEM. YOU ARE ALLOWED TO BE DISAPPOINTED AND ANGRY AT FAMOUS PEOPLE, BUT DON’T LET THAT OVERSHADOW WHAT’S REALLY IMPORTANT. YOU ARE A HUMAN FIRST. You can thank them, but no one deserves to be highly praised for doing the right thing. So none of this “we stan more” or “KING” shit. No. I can’t be out there to protest in person, but I’m contributing in other ways like RTing information, signing petitions, and donating. I, as a white woman in the US, will never understand or have to personally feel any of this oppression solely because of the color of my skin. I feel and recognize my privilege and I want to use it the best way that I can to help fight alongside you. All I have is my empathy and the willingness to be educated. I’m sorry for my ignorance and indifference before now. But I am here for you and I promise I will not give up on you.
