doctorwho: “Sean Pertwee: My Dad Jon was ‘very fond’ of Peter Capaldi” From promo photos to their costumes, eagle-eyed fans have long been noticing certain similarities between new Doctor Peter Capaldi and the third incarnation of the Time Lord, Jon Pertwee. Well now his son, actor Sean Pertwee, has revealed that the two were friends. Pertwee, who plays villain Sarazin in BBC1’s The Musketeers alongside Capaldi as Cardinal Richelieu, has been talking about his love of the actor and how close he is to his family. “My father was very fond of Peter and Peter is an extremely lovely gentleman,” he told PA. “He was very kind to my family when my father passed away, he was big fan of my dad’s actually. So personally the Pertwee household were absolutely delighted when he got the role of The Doctor.” He also gave his thoughts on how the 55 year-old Capaldi will fare after the fresh-faced tenure of Matt Smith. “I think he’s going to bring some real gravitas and weight, which only comes with age. Taking nothing away from Matt (Smith), who I thought was great, I just think he’s going to stupendous. He’s going to have a completely different look. "He’s such a phenomenal actor anyway I think he’ll be absolutely brilliant. I’m delighted he’s doing it.” (x) -- source link
