Something a little out of the ordinary for me, but at least somewhat related to art. A very simple tile editor coded in QBasic! I modelled it after the tile editors that David Murray (a.k.a. The 8-Bit Guy) wrote for his games Planet X2 and Planet X3. It was quite the adventure figuring out how to get certain aspects to work, like preventing the cursor from erasing previously plotted pixels as it moves over them, or saving and loading files from disk being two major examples. Hopefully this’ll be a stepping stone toward writing some simple games using the same principles, and perhaps later on to more ambitious projects! By the way, the tile graphics shown in the screenshot are borrowed from Ultima V: Warriors of Destiny, a wonderful title for showing off the EGA colour palette. -- source link
