Not only did he belong to the same church as me, but he was also one of the bravest kids I know of, and also; look at that dashing young man.Helmuth Hübener (8 January 1925 - 27 October 1942) was one of the youngest opponents to the Third Reich to be sentenced to death and executed. He lived in Hamburg, Germany, and joined the Hitler Youth but after Kristallnacht he started questioning the Nazi party, and left. In the summer of 1941, Helmüth discovered that he could listen to BBC radio broadcast on his brothers radio, and he heard more about how the Jews were treated, something he strongly opposed to. Together with three friends, he started making anti-Nazi pamphlets, informing people of what was actually happening in Germany.On the 5 February 1942 he was arrested by Gestapo, sentenced to death on the 11 August and beheaded by guillotine on the 27 October. He was questioned, beaten and tortured before trial, and only 17 when he died.I GIVE YOU MY LIFE HERO. LIKE LITERALLY.Helmuth and his two friends, Rudy Wobbe and Karl Heinz-Schnibbe, made a vow that whoever was caught first would take the complete blame. Helmuth was caught first, after trying to win over a coworker to their cause. He lasted THREE WHOLE DAYS before giving up his friends names. This is remarkable to me because this boy is sixteen years old, middle class, very much an intellectual, who probably has little to no experience with any form of abuse and he lasts like 52 HOURS UNDER CONTINUOUS TORTURE. They are tried as adults in front of the highest court(I can’t remember the name). And Helmuth takes all the blame. “I only did this, They didn’t know this, ect.” taking full responsibility for his actions. He proceeds to back talk and in general be a (polite) lil’ shit.
