September 2015 - Maypops and caterpillarsStill learning insects, but my best guess is that those are Agraulis vanillae / Gulf Frittary caterplliars. We have plenty of foliage at this point, so I don’t mind sharing. Sorry the photos are so backlit! They were all on the undersides of the leaves.Less than two weeks until the first frost date. Fruits still aren’t ready. Will they or won’t they be mature in time?!?!?!? The suspense is killing me, b/c if they don’t, I have a bit of work ahead of me.Not too long ago I saw a bunch of actual Agraulis vanillae all over our garden, it’s deeply satisfying to help them successfully complete their lifecycle. Maypops used to be grow abundantly in many areas of the South, but it’s much harder to find now, and that can’t be helpful to these critters who are 100% dependent on them. -- source link
