Alice Crochet Doll From Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll Also known as: what happens when I get banished from my house because my parents have the flu! I made this Alice doll over a period of a few days during my winter break. She was sort of on a whim… as I had some spare yarn and didn’t have anything else to do at the time, but she turned out quite nicely! I made her blonde and wearing a blue dress because that seems to be the generally accepted image of Alice… I was actually tempted to make her with dark hair (as the real Alice, whom the character was based off of, was not really blonde), but I was in rather short supply of brown and black yarn at the time. So, blonde-haired, blue-eyed Alice it was, then! I had a rather fun time adding all the little frills to her apron and dress– I used what my mother called a “shell” stitch to make the frilly effect. I was also very proud of the way her sleeves actually turned out poofy! And I have to admit that I made the skirt dead-on, as can be seen from the photograph which should be vertical… because I can pose her to make it seem like she is curtsying! Her stockings are black-and-white striped, as I have always admired that style feature when it comes to various pop-culture images of Alice. The character of Alice belongs to Lewis Carroll! -- source link
