What really kills me about this song is the sense of pain at their important duty, what it will cost them, and yet the sense of how strong their feelings are for each other. This is coming just after a scene where Haruka holds onto Michiru tightly (twice!), this isn’t just Michiru watching Haruka’s performance and speaking back to her, this is something that they both feel.Haruka’s song seems like it could be directed at any and all women (and she’s definitely a flirt!), but coming on the heels of this moment, where she’s literally clutching Michiru’s hand for strength, where she’s holding Michiru close, her line about how their time is running out and then singing a song called Last Dance about how “the two of us together, last chance” about “the end” (and that’s exactly what she and Michiru are facing), there’s no way this isn’t a song about her and Michiru. And it kills me that these two really seem to believe they’ll likely die in this upcoming battle, that it’ll cost them their lives, but it’s too important to ignore, and, well, as long as they have each other, it’s bearable.LEAVE ME HERE WITH MY FEELINGS. -- source link
