mirdam-aves:The green peafowl (Pavo muticus) is an endangered species of peafowl. The sexes of green peafowls, especially those of wild ones look quite similar in appearance. The neck and breast feathers of both sexes resemble scales and appear green. The crest of females has slightly wider plumes, while those of males are thinner and taller. They live in Southeast Asia, particularly deciduous, tropical and evergreen forests, savannas, grasslands and farmland edges. Their diet consists of mainly seeds, insects, reptiles, fruits and small animals. Sometimes, they’re called dragonbirds as they are known to hunt venomous snakes.Photo credits: cuatrok77, Ron Knight, ckoulang -- source link
