An Evangelical Christian pastor and his wife in Cuba have had their prison sentences ratified, for home-schooling their children instead of sending them to state-run school.Pastor Rigal and Ayda decided to teach their children at home because - according to what they argued - the state school teaching in Cuba empasizes a Marxist-Leninist atheist ideology that goes against their Chrisitan faith. They also argued that their children had been bullied at school. The children, Joel and Ruth, were enrolled in a private Christian school based in Guatemala which provided education through their online program. The pastor was first arrested in February 2017. On April 25th, that same year, after a quick trial, Pastor Rigal was sentenced to one year in a correctional facility and his wife to one year of house arrest.Open Doors has sent financial aid through the Cuban Church to help with maintenance expenses for the family and mobilization inside the island for those supporting the pastors in their time of need.Pray for justice for the Cuban Church and for Pastor Rigal and Ayda. -- source link
