I thought my rat-dog was ugly…I looked through their site and was disgusted. There’s nothing about it that makes me want to get a dog from them, and most of them were pretty ugly anyway. Things like this make me want to go slam my head into a wall a few times. I wonder what breeds have gone into the creation of this one. I just did some googling and apparently there’s no clear descent for these things, and different clubs are adapting the breed into what they want, so there’s no across the board standard for a Mi-Ki. But the ones that look normal are pretty cute, I’ll admit. This whole breed just makes me really uncomfortable.I don’t think there is any essential difference between a breed like the Mi-Ki and other 20th-century creations. Their rarity does, however, make them a novelty and their lack of official recognition means they don’t have the same veneer of legitimacy as more conventional dog breeds - and I think this is where a lot of the misgiving comes in.This kind of novelty and under the radar status I think attracts a higher proportion of:Gullible people who think they’re providing something great and unique for other gullible peopleImpulsive hobby-hoppers and trend-settersNarcissists who think they can make a buck off of the aboveto make matters worse i checked out their site and this “small home kennel” breeds four different breeds of dogs, which for me is an immediate red flag (especially if they’re toy/designer breeds) -- source link
