In what universe is “Do you have a boyfriend?” “I have a girlfriend” a significantly less coherent exchange than “Do you have a boyfriend?” “No, I have a girlfriend”?2. Where did OP say anything about the professor being “out to get her”?3. How does it make (non-homophobic) sense for the professor to assume it was more likely that she mixed up novio and novia, even after he said “un novio” right there in the question, than that she had a girlfriend?4.
