How many pale imitations of Looney Tunes did we just live through? How many Ren and Stimpy’s and South Parks and Spongebobs? I still enjoy a lot of those shows but it was still like this non-stop barrage of cynicism, sarcasm and in-your-face “wackiness” for something like 25 years straight, beginning somewhere in the late 80′s to early 90′s, where real tenderness and feeling was either the setup for a punchline or at least kind of on the down-low, sneaking its way into special exceptions like Hey Arnold or little rare moments of the zanier fare.GOD was it exhausting. -- source link
