rhiannegray:archiveonmysoul:Okay, so there’s been a lot of talk over “This is the first real smile you see out of him, post thaw, and it’s to Tony.” And yeah, that’s true. But I wanna take a second here to talk about Steve’s state in this particular gif, and why this moment right here speaks to me more about Steven Grant Rogers more than any other moment in this movie. Here’s why.Steve doesn’t have the headgear on. This is him, it’s Captain Rogers, not Captain America. His suit’s torn, face dirty and smudged, his hair’s got pieces sticking together from the sweat from the physical exertion of the fight. And he’s smiling. And that right there, the fact that he’s just been through insanity, and yet he’s smiling? It’s because finally, after all his time spent either frozen or as an act on a stage, this moment brings him back to when he felt most useful: On the field of battle. It’s because he’s back in his element. And yeah, you see the sadness in his eyes when he thinks Tony’s gone, because he thinks he’s lost another person that he was close to (you don’t wade into the depths of hell without forming a close bond), and that’s the last thing he wanted. But Tony comes back. He’s kept his men alive. They won. And this time? This time, he was here to see it.Oh My Goodness Yes. This is why I love these two, and Steve in particular. Not necessarily Captain America, (though I do), but first and foremost, Steve. -- source link
