infinity–land:infinity–land:Siblings Ruth Correa, 23 and Sergio Correa, 26, are each facing murder charges in the brutal triple homicide of Janet and Kenneth Lindquist and their son Matthew, 21 in Griswold, CT in December 2017. According to Ruth, she and Sergio met up with Matthew in the middle of the night to exchange drugs for Matthew’s father’s weapons and a safe, and then they’d planned to stage a robbery to cover up for it. However, when the siblings arrived at the Lindquist home, Matthew backed out of the plan and ran into the nearby woods. Sergio and Ruth chased him with a machete and stabbed Matthew to death. Then they snuck into the house through the unlocked basement. They robbed the house, bludgeoned the couple to death, and set the house on fire. Matthew’s car was found in flames 40 miles away. He was considered a person of interest up until the discovery of his body in May 2018.Ruth Correa was arrested in May 2018; she’d told her apartment’s security guard about the murders and he told police. Ruth alleges that Sergio committed most of the violence and she had no prior knowledge of the fake robbery plan. Sergio was arrested shortly after; he denies all involvement. They have each been charged with: three counts of felony murder, one count of murder with special circumstances, first-degree robbery, arson and one count of home invasion; they will be tried separately. Three months before the murders, Sergio completed a ten year long prison sentence for attempted robbery and arson. Ruth has entered a not guilty plea to all charges, including a new arson charge for Matthew’s car. Their trials continue on July 30, 2018.x x x x x x x xJuly 30: Sergio Correa appeared in court with his new lawyers to request his trial be postponed to September 24th to give him and his new lawyers time to decide if he wants a probable cause hearing; it was granted.
