closetofanxiety:On this day 10 years ago, the first two rounds of the inaugural Shimmer women’s championship tournament were held at the Berwyn Eagles Club outside Chicago (Shimmer Vol. 11, for those buying the DVDs). It’s sort of sobering to look back and realize how few of those wrestlers are still working today, compared to their male counterparts of the time. One thing that comes across in interviews with women in the new book “Sisterhood of the Squared Circle” is that, in general, the wrestling careers for women are a lot shorter than for men.
