Fall is in the air Aerangis luteo-alba v. rhodosticta °°° As the seasons change, it’s always a good reminder to make sure we are growing our orchids in an environment that will provide not only the best light and watering conditions, but also the much needed temperature differential between night and day️ °°° This is a huge factor in overall plant health that is many times over looked when growing orchids from the tropics. It’s easy to assume that since these plants are from warm-weather areas, they like it hit and steamy day and night. This can be a huge mistake °°° In most situations a 10° to 15° difference is sufficient but getting a bigger swing can have better results and in some plants may be necessary for flowering. Just keep in mind the overall daytime high is a big factor in this equation and should usually get above 70° (with nights 55° to 60°) even in the Winter. °°° As an example, in our greenhouse this time of year we can have huge swings in temperature with days in the upper 80s and nights in the low 50s. Along with carefully placing cooler growing plants in spots that stay cooler during the day and warmer plants in warmer areas, this spectrum allows us to grow a big range of different species (at Orchid Dynasty) https://www.instagram.com/p/B29MKNOBxAJ/?igshid=1xamjfcoubbyw -- source link
