I haven’t been on in awhile but this was to important not to point out… this shit right here is why I have body dismorphia. There have been days where I have walked in front of a mirror and scared the shit out of myself because “who is this dark girl in my house??” These text don’t seem like much but take 23 years of “you don’t want to get dark” “I like your winter skin better” “look at the other beautiful LIGHT SKINNED celebrities” and you’ve got some seriously fucked up little black girls who imagine themselves as light skinned wanting straight silky hair and blue eyes because the person who is SUPPOSED to be a loving role model is constantly telling you they prefer their kids lighter and thinner… -- source link
