I’m starting to feel like I’m in a place to be able to do some more drawing. I have been setting aside at least 20 minutes for gesture drawing to strengthen my understanding of anatomy. It’s usually done right after some breathing exercises to increase my focus so that I can better understand what it is that I’m drawing. This drawing of @nerdycurvyandthriving started off as a 1 minute gesture, but I decided to take hour and add some details in #Photoshop. Lately I’ve been using the broad edge of a Prismacolor marker for the gesture drawing. Typically I like to use 40% warm grey for this. After laying in the gesture for this drawing I decided to lay in some values using just the 40% warm grey for the lighter values and 70% warm grey for darker values. The darker lines where done with a 50% warm grey colored pencil. After scanning the drawing I created a color layer on top. This gave me a nice base to work with for adding details. I don’t always work like this, but for now it’s something I can do consistently. Working this way is relaxing because I always seem to run into hardware issue when drawing on my Cintiq Companion 2. So I primarily use it for color work. This is why the iPad Pro is so appealing to me and is something I’m looking forward to getting my hands on. #art #drawing #gesture #figuredrawing #drawmoreplus #process #marker #prismacolor (at Kalamazoo, Michigan) https://www.instagram.com/p/B1rPHMzAclI/?igshid=dkh52oejz849 -- source link
