gayforlangs: languageoclock: thatswhywelovegermany: official-german-translationen: willkommen-in-germany: Typisch deutsch! :D Der Eierbecher (singular), die Eierbecher (plural). Whenever I stayed abroad, I could not find them, so this seems to be typical German. They hold your (usually soft-boiled) breakfast egg so it’s non-messy. Wait how is this a Germany-only thing I’ve seen them in Britain, the Netherlands, France, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Poland, Czechia, and Namibia. However, I have never seen an egg warmer outside Germany (which does not exclude that they do exist there). Made from warming cloth (felt, wool), they can be bought, but are more often hand-knitted or crocheted items in German households, often in funny shapes, and pulled over the boiled eggs in egg cups to keep them warm. we definitely have both egg cups and egg warmers in australia, though i think the concept of egg warmers is more of a novelty to us rather than something ppl actually use, it’s a cheap bit of craft to keep you busy around easter time… i’ve never seen an “egg cup” and have no idea what an egg warmer is i’m in spain we do have egg cups, but i’ve never heard of an egg warmer and now i want to know what it is??? does it just keep the egg warm, like really?? is that its purpose? -- source link
