iknityounot: Wow! 30+ hours working later, almost two months of juggling this and homework, my job, and sleep–here we are! A teacher at my school asked me to created a vintage-style handmade Mickey Mouse doll for a dance performance she was in charge of. If was a huge feat to take on because 1) I have never made a doll like this before 2) I couldn’t find any patterns to use. I think he came out pretty ok after it all, though. (I am not sure I would jump at doing anything similar for a while, that is for sure. I still have so much Hanukkah knitting to do! :c) He stands almost two feet tall, is made out of all acrylic yarn and stuffing. You can’t really see in any of the pictures, but I crocheted his tail (Oy vey–that was probably the hardest part of this whole thing for me. I am definitely a knitter at heart.) I used two pieces of Bristol paper cut into ovals and glued together to create the base of his shoes. Felt was sewn onto the pants and face to make the eyes and buttons. So, in 2014 I made this vintage style Mickey Mouse for a teacher to use in an upcoming dance recital. In 2019, I graduated college and moved back to my home town. I got a part time job as a youth group leader for my temple. And through that, I reconnected with the teacher I had made Mickey for. Out of curiosity, I asked her what happened to the doll–she excitedly told me that she still had it! She brought it to me a few weeks later, since it was just sitting in her basement. After 6 years, my probably most intensive project and I were reunited:(He has now been based off to a Disney-loving child in my life, since I would rather he be played with than sitting in my closet forever) -- source link
